What is sports medicine?

Sports medicine is a specialized field focusing on the medical aspects of sports and physical activity, benefiting not only elite athletes but also those looking to prevent injuries and promote exercise. This field studies the physiology and biology of sports, including metabolism, adaptation to effort, overtraining, fatigue, and recovery, tailored to patients’ age and health conditions. Sports physicians diagnose and treat sports-related injuries, recommend exercise programs, and coordinate rehabilitation and return to sports. The focus is on treating trauma to bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Our clinic features two CASEM-certified physiatrists specializing in sports medicine, ready to address your needs.
