What is a Physiatrist?

A physiatrist is a specialized doctor with ten years of medical training dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating musculoskeletal disorders. Their comprehensive consultations involve thorough assessments, including questionnaires, physical examinations, and the review of paraclinical exams, ensuring precise diagnoses despite potential disparities between clinical and imaging findings. Treatment methods encompass manual interventions, physical and pharmacological agents, and various injections, with fluoroscopy and ultrasound-guided injections significantly enhancing diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes while reducing surgical interventions for over two decades. Physiatry emphasizes the functional impact of pathological conditions, often employing physiotherapy and occupational therapy for rehabilitation.
